Introduction - getting started

WestSearch
Try WestSearch, to search across our collections of books in all the CSUs and for journal articles in our databases. Go to http://library.wcsu.edu

WestSearch is a global search which includes all materials available at WCSU - journals, books and other media. It can be narrowed or broadened as needed. You may include materials available from the other CSUs, the Connecticut State Library and the Connecticut State Community Colleges (See below).

1. Always sign in - you can save searches, request items and see which libraries own a book you are interested in.

2. The drop down menu lets you narrow or broaden your search. Once you have the search results the left hand menu on the results page lets you narrow the search results.

3. The new book catalog contains the holdings of 18 libraries in our consortium - the CSUs, the Community Colleges and the State Library. You can borrow from any one of them by using the REQUEST button when you locate your book in WestSearch.

4. And if you can't find it, you can use Interlibrary Loan - sign up for the ILLIAD service to request that we find and borrow the item from a library outside our CSU consortium. Just click on the link in the middle of the library homepage.
