Paraphasing

Be very careful with paraphrasing – make certain your paraphrase is not similar to the original in sentence structure. Write your paraphrase or summary in your own words and make certain any unique wording you need to use from the original is in quotes. Make certain your paraphrase does not change the context of the original. You still need to source your paraphrase as it represents the ideas of another. Use the source’s name within the paraphrase to alert the reader that this information represents another person's ideas.
