In order to become a teacher in Connecticut you must become certified. The goal here is to connect you to the resources you need to become certified. You'll fine information here related to (a) teacher certification requirements, and (b) library resources to help you prepare for tests required for certification.
For each certification area there is a test name and a test code. For example, for secondary school English, the test name is English Language Arts: Content and Analysis and the test code is #5039.
Over time, the State of Connecticut has updated the tests required for certification. When this occurs, the test code number is changed as well. So, if you use only the guide(s) for a recently outdated test code, you may not be as well prepared as you could be.
Keep in mind that the test code for a print format test is generally a 3 digit code, while the online version has 4 digits. For example in chemistry, which has the test code 245, 5245 is the computerized version and 245 is the paper version of the test (sometimes it may be seen as 0245)
If you have questions or are uncertain about which test(s) you need to take, consult sites at the State Department of Education or at the Educational Testing Services (ETS) website.
The library has print books, online books, and other online resources to help you prepare for the exams. Note there are also some freely available guides on the Educational Testing Services website for most subjects.
