ORCID

An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) iD is a numeric code, unique to you, that automatically links you to your professional activities to make it easier for people to find your work. Unlike other author-identifier systems, the ORCID iD is not tied to a specific platform. Clark Library recommends that you register with ORCID to identify your work across platforms.

Why Create an ORCID ID

How to Start Using ORCID

Having an ORCID iD can ensure that your publications are associated with you, regardless of the name you used at the time of publication. This short (4:17) video explains the advantages of ORCID iD:

Step 1: Register for your ORCID iD @ https://orcid.org/register.

Step 2: Add your scholarly works to your ORCID iD record.

Step 3: Use your ORCiD ID to quickly link people to your scholarly works:

  • on your personal webpage, institution directory, social media accounts, or email signature
  • in conference presentations and posters
  • for manuscript submissions and grant proposals
