There are two ways to obtain books at WCSU: one is by searching for books only available at Haas Library or other CSU libraries, and the other is through interlibrary loan, which allows you to receive materials not available either at WCSU or any of the other CSU libraries.
If you're in a hurry, your best option is to use WestSearch, the library's catalog located on the library homepage, to find the books located here at the Haas Library. (See Below) Use the Advanced Search link to make your search more specific - for instance, you can limit your search just to books.
Search books, media, articles, course reserves, & more
If you have a little more time, and the perfect book is at another CSU library, you can have it sent to you. To search all the CSU libraries, in the box that says "WCSU Libraries" scroll down to include all CSU libraries in your search.
The second option is to use WorldCat. WorldCat is a catalog that searches libraries across the United States and beyond. If you find something in WorldCat you could order it through interlibrary loan.
You may request Interlibrary Loan service when the book you need is not available from the CSCU Libraries, but this will only work if you've allowed yourself enough time. Before requesting an Interlibrary Loan, please discuss your information needs with the librarian at the Reference Desk. We may be able to find other items which are currently available that may satisfy your information needs.
WCSU uses the Library of Congress classification system for books, not the Dewey Decimal System,. The classification system determines a book's address within a library - its call number - which determines its location on the shelves. The call number is found on the label located on the spine of the book.
In the Library of Congress system, books on education are found in the "L" section, located on the fourth floor of Haas.
Psychology books are located in the BF section, also located on the fourth floor.
Since books of the same content are often grouped together, browsing the shelves can often reveal even more books than you may have found by searching the catalog, so a stroll through the stacks can be fruitful.
