Student Employment at the Library

The WCSU Libraries are looking to hire Student Assistants who are available to work the following shifts:

At Haas Library on the midtown campus:

  • Mondays - 11AM - 1PM
  • Wednesdays - Substitutes who can work as needed from 8AM - 12PM
  • Thursdays - 11AM - 2PM, 2PM - 6PM, 8PM - 10PM
  • Fridays - Substitutes who can work as needed from 8AM - 10AM

At Young Library on the westside campus:

  • Thursdays - 12PM - 3PM

Student Assistants are responsible for providing high quality customer assistance to our patrons throughout the library. They support the library staff in creating an atmosphere conducive to achieving the educational goals of WCSU faculty and students.

Student Assistants are responsible for answering basic questions from users concerning the location of materials, library hours, availability of needed items such as reserves and study rooms, and providing basic WCSU campus and community information.  

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of basic office procedures, good communication skills and telephone manners, ability to work independently and efficiently.  Willingness to learn and put into effect library procedures and policies. Previous library experience a plus. 

Students who have been awarded Federal Work Study are strongly encouraged to apply."

The WCSU libraries are seeking Student Assistants for the Fall Semester. The Assistants support the full-time staff in maintaining the libraries and the research materials housed in them. The work requires attention to detail and consistent high quality customer service with staff, faculty, and students. Some physical labor will be required. You must be able to commit to working shifts a few nights during the week as well as at least one weekend day. Flexibility in working hours is required.
