Finding Items in the Library

How to locate the books, media, and printed articles you find in your research.

Haas Library

The Haas Library uses several different schemes for organizing books and other materials.  These guides will give you a brief overview of where to find physical items in the library.

How to find what is on the physical space of the 6 floors of Haas Library.

5th Floor: Books, LC classed, call numbers P-Z

4th Floor: Books, LC classed, call numbers A-N, Curriculum Room (children's library area, Dewey classed), computer lab, classroom

3rd Floor: Periodicals, journals, microfilm and fiche, Government documents (SuDocs classed), Newspapers, Writing Center

2nd Floor:  Curriculum Collection, Media, Movies and AV resources, music scores, group meeting room, Tutoring Center

1st Floor:  Reference Desk Circulation Desk, "special" reserve area, Hold shelf, MTTC computer lab, Research Collection, Special Exhibit areas

Basement: Archives, Special Collections, Thesis, and dissertations

 

All of the resources and locations are fully integrated with the library's online presence through our webpage. Including but not limited to portals to the catalog for books & ebooks, databases, subject guides, and Interlibrary loan, ILLIAD. We are also integrated with the other CSU libraries, including the Connecticut Community Colleges and The Connecticut State Library. Visit the library web page; there are numerous useful things to be found. You can renew your books remotely, you can search for journal articles remotely, you can request books from the other CSU libraries remotely.

Young Library

The Robert S. Young Library, located on the 4th floor of the Westside Classroom Building, is organized much like a corporate library and patterned after the Baker Library’s Core collection at the Harvard Business School.  This library serves the Ancell School of Business including the Division of Justice and Law Administration, and the department of Visual and Performing Arts.  

Ancell Commons

Attached to the library is the Ancell Commons, providing services to the Ancell School students including tutoring, guided study groups and help with Microsoft Office programs.

Study space, meeting rooms and technology are available in both the Library and Commons spaces.
