Using Books for Education Research

Traditional books/monographs hold an important place in the research process alongside journal literature.

  • Circulating and reference books, in print or online, provide valuable background information on a topic of interest and their cited references are an efficient way to locate related research literature.
  • Books are an excellent source of information on education and psychological theorists.
  • Current reference books can be used to access statistical data in education.
  • The education circulating book collection is housed on the 4th floor of Haas Library in the Library of Congress "L" Class.
  • Keep in mind that "LB" corresponds to educational theory and practice.
  • For educational psychology topics, browse in the "BF" class as well.
  • The Curriculum Room on the 4th floor of Haas Library houses a strong collection of teacher professional materials (instructional guides, handbooks and teaching kits).

Use WestSearch, the WCSU Libraries Discovery Tool, to locate books and other materials relevant to the conducting of education research and the study of research methodologies.
