Select KEYWORD at the CONSULS main menu. This type of search allows you to look for everyday words in all parts of the catalog. It's sometimes easier to start with keywords and then look for a specific subject heading. Combine different terms with the word AND.
Example: linguistics AND history
Or: bilingual AND children
Use a truncation symbol - * - to shorten words and look for different endings.
Example:
linguist* and histor*
Or: bilingual* and child*
TO FIND BOOKS WRITTEN BY A SPECIFIC PERSON:
Select Author at the CONSULS Main Menu, then type the writer's name last-name-first. Correct spelling is important.
Example: webster noah

Select Subject at the CONSULS Main Menu, then type the writer's name last-name-first. Correct spelling is important. CONSULS will retrieve a list of Library of Congress subject headings that begin with the words you typed.
