Nursing Ed.D Library Guide

Guide to Library Resources for the Ed.D Nursing Program at WCSU

About Library Services

One Program -- Two Libraries!

The doctoral program in nursing education is a collaborative program between Southern Connecticut State University and Western Connecticut State University. The best place to discover all that the libraries have to offer is our dedicated Nursing Education Ed.D. Library Portal.  Accessing the Library Portal, in addition to each library's website, ensures that you will have easy access to the online and print resources you need.

The Portal includes comprehensive guides on finding and accessing books and media, scholarly journal literature, and dissertations.  Please also check out the Search Strategy guide, which takes you step-by-step through the research process.  The guide includes resources you will need to conduct library research for coursework continuing all the way to the final stages of researching your dissertation.

Live help is available by using web chat, text messaging, video conferencing, e-mail, and by phone.  If you are able to visit our campuses, we welcome walk in consultations as well!  Extended research consultations are available by appointment, either online or in person. The Library Portal includes instructional screencasts, screenshots and other helpful content that can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

Please explore the rich collection of resources and services the libraries have to offer you!  We will also be "embedded" in your online courses, offering assistance and library instruction whenever needed.

Remember, the librarians and staff of the WCSU and SCSU Libraries are here to support you.  Best of success in the program and we'll see you online!

Two Libraries; two sets of resources

SCSU and WCSU Libraries have their own sets of resources. Due to the nature of licensing and secure access, students must log into their own institution's system to obtain access to their library's resources (library catalog, eBooks, journals, videos, databases, etc.). Many resources, such as CINAHL, Medline, Education Research Complete, and ERIC are available at each campus. There are some databases that are only available at one campus, such as PsycTESTS at SCSU and Films on Demand at WCSU. And there are some eBooks and online journals that are only accessible at one campus. Again, this has to do with licensing practices of publishers and vendors. Though this does not usually cause any problems, it can at times be confusing or frustrating. If you are having problems accessing the resources you need, contact your librarian for help. They are eager to help.
