What is a Keyword Search?

A keyword search refers to the "keywords" that are used to find the information one is seeking.

  • They are typically typed into the search bars of scholarly databases.
  • Search bars in databases typically offer a "basic" search, which allows for a single keyword.
  • "Advanced Search" allows for multiple keywords (see the page "More Advanced Searching" to learn how to do an advanced search.
  • Advanced searches can provide more targeted results
