About Dissertations

Dissertations: Key Resources for the Study of Nursing Education

Dissertations as Key Resources for Research

Dissertations are book-length studies based on original research and written in partial fulfillment of requirements for the doctoral degree.  Dissertations are a great way to gain both overview and in-depth knowledge of research in your field; they are also useful as examples and inspirations for your own work.  They offer valuable examples of both research methodologies and utilization of research instruments/measurement tools.

WestCollections: The repository is a service of the Western Connecticut State University libraries. Research and scholarly output included here has been selected and deposited by the individual university departments and centers on campus.

Proquest Dissertations & Theses Database (PQDT)

PQDT provides you with online access to nearly 3 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses in virtually all subject areas and disciplines.  More than a thousand new dissertations are added weekly.  Most dissertations published since 1997 are available in full text in the database.  For most recent dissertations, the full text is fully searchable as well.  PQDT is the database of record for graduate research and is the official repository for the Library of Congress.  As all dissertations and theses are peer reviewed, the collection contains the highest quality scholarly content, and is particularly strong in new and emerging research topics.  The dabase also includes supplemental digital materials that may accompany many dissertations.
